Hiding Content in Ektron

Occationally web content must be hidden from users for a limited time without deleting the content. In order to accomplish this, two things must be done:

Removing the Page from Navigation

The content administrator must remove the page from all navigation elements that link to it. In most cases, site navigation is stored in a single ektron menu item and it is adequate to remove the item from this.

Removing the Page from Search Results

If a user searches for content that is stored in the content item, it may be returned in the search results. To avoid this, we must make the item not searchable:

1. Log into the Ektron workarea at http://www.seattleu.edu/login
2. Navigate to the content item in the workarea
3. Click on the title of the content to view the item
• NOTE: It is important that you click on the title of the item rather than selecting View from the drop down menu
4. Select Edit Properties from the icons above the content
• NOTE: The button is the 10th from the left
5. Uncheck Content Searchable
6. Click on the Save icon
