Q10469 - HOWTO: Removing a Content Item from a Menu

View the Menu in the Ektron Workarea

  1. Log into the Ektron workarea at http://www.seattleu.edu/login.
  2. Navigate to the folder containing your menu in the Ektron Workarea.
    • Generally menus are located in the root folder of your site. Thus, if you want to manage the menu for Academic Advising, you will need to navigate to Folders > AcademicAdvising.
  3. Mouse over View on the top of the right pane and select Menu – this will bring up the menu listing
  4. Click on the title of menu that you want to update
    • In most cases, only one menu will be present. When multiple menus are available, the site menu usually contains "Main Menu" in the title.

Removing the Content item

  1. Navigate the folder tree to view the content item to be removed
    • If you are unsure about where the content item is, you can open all folders and scan the list of content for the correct item. Typically the menu item will be the same as the title of the content item to remove.
  2. Move your mouse over the title of the item to remove and a pop up menu will become available.
    • NOTE: You do not need to click.
  3. Select "Delete" from the popup menu
    • It's important to keep in mind that deleting a content item from a menu will not result in the content item being deleted, simply its removal from the menu being managed.
  4. Click on the Back arrow in the right panel to return to the list of menu items
    1. Once you click the Delete command in the menu, the item will no longer show up on the web site, but it is best practice to return to the list of menu items just to ensure that the workarea has finished all processing. Once this is finished, you can close the workarea.
